Rep. Ayanna Pressley’s (D-Mass.) eyewear accident ended up becoming a viral Twitter moment to empower a young girl.

In the original tweet posted Wednesday night, Pressley said she “never, ever” wears her glasses in public but ran out of contact lenses, so she put them on.

“Ran into a mom who asked me to post this pic for her 9yr old who hates her new glasses,” she tweeted.

She tagged fellow bifocal-wearing Reps. Lauren Underwood (D-Ill.), Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.), and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.).

Hundreds of people replied to Pressley’s tweet with selfies of them “rockin bifocals” of their own.

The Massachusetts congresswoman shared one of her favorite pictures in the replies.

Pressley is part of the crew of young, newly elected congresswomen who have social media influence well beyond their constituency.

One of those women is Tlaib, who shared her own glasses selfie Thursday morning.

“Women in Congress wear eye glasses & look fresh doing it,” she wrote. “Love them on you sis! You look even more fierce.”

Pressley gained attention after she defeated 10-term Democratic incumbent Michael Capuano for the Boston-based congressional seat. Currently, she has 20 times the followers of Capuano on Twitter.

The video of Pressley finding out she won that race has already racked up over half a million views on the social media platform.

Her upset victory was similar to that of Ocasio-Cortez, who defeated Democratic incumbent Joe Crowley in the New York primary last year. Ocasio-Cortez joined in on the Twitter praise of Pressley.

“You look fab,” she replied.

Rep. Ayanna Pressley is another recently elected Justice Democrat, but she doesn’t get as much media coverage.

It’s good to see her spreading the love of wearing glasses. I have had to wear them most of my life, so I don’t remember whether or not they bugged me at first, but I can understand what younger people go through having to wear them. Fortunately, modern glasses look a heck of a lot better and more fashionable than what I had to wear when young. 🙁 😀
