Former President Barack Obama responded to the shooting at two mosques in Christchurch, New Zealand on Friday that resulted in the deaths of 49 worshippers.

“Michelle and I send our condolences to the people of New Zealand,” the former president tweeted Friday morning. “We grieve with you and the Muslim community. All of us must stand against hatred in all its forms.”

New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern called the shooting, which is now the deadliest in the country’s history, a terrorist attack.

Former Vice President Joe Biden offered his condolences as well, adding a subtle warning on what could happen in the future if people stay silent on bigotry.

“On behalf of Jill, myself, and all of the Bidens, our hearts go out to the community in Christchurch suffering from today’s senseless violence,” he began a series of tweets.  “Friday prayers for those who were gathered at their mosques has seen families torn apart by hate.”

“Whether it is antisemitism in Pittsburgh, racism in Charlottesville, or the xenophobia and Islamophobia today in Christchurch, violent hate is on the march at home and abroad,” Biden continued in another tweet.  “We cannot stand by as mosques are turned into murder scenes.”

“Silence is complicity. Our children are listening. The time to speak out is now.”

President Donald Trump also sent a tweet with his sympathy and offered the support of the United States to New Zealand.

“My warmest sympathy and best wishes goes out to the people of New Zealand after the horrible massacre in the Mosques,” he tweeted.  “49 innocent people have so senselessly died, with so many more seriously injured. The U.S. stands by New Zealand for anything we can do.”

Trump was mentioned in the gunman’s manifesto that detailed a white supremacist fear of people of color “replacing” white people around the world. The gunman penned the president as “a symbol of renewed white identity and common purpose.”

I find it odd that the World’s leading anti-American, anti-White RACIST would even open his mouth; EXCEPT for the fact the massacre in NZ involved Muslims. I don’t recall a word from Mr. Racist when 17 students and teachers were massacred on 2/14/2018 in Florida; or, the massacre in Las… Read more »

I guess you ignored Obama’s “This is not normal.” speech, Sept 7, 2018, then.

I can’t believe that IJR let’s you get away with spouting your hate here.

What “hate”? As a registered Independent, am I REQUIRED to agree with those whose opinions or information differs from mine? Many posts I’ve read here and on the many other sites I visit indicate the writers don’t have a clue what the word “truth” means; they just continue their hyperbole… Read more »

#2: I have and did ignore everything Marxist “Obama” (true adopted name: Barry Hussein Soetoro, an Indonesian citizen) said as did the majority of Americans. As a suggestion, I would recommend you read: “How Obama Betrayed America . . and No One is holding Him Accountable” and “Obama and Islam”.… Read more »

“…anything we can do ” For starters we can denounce hate speech when we hear/read it. We can call out fear mongering when he hear it, AND no fall prey to the manipulation attempts. We can reach out to those who have fallen prey BEFORE they act upon the imaginary… Read more »

Have to agree with the “fear mongering” part. However, that would leave the Dem/Socialists with nothing to say if they wouldn’t be able to continue their use of fear, intimidation, racism, divisiveness, unrealistic ideas and out right lies to combat Conservative facts.

What would be the “Conservative facts” that you are referring? James, facts are facts. They have no party affiliation.

Party affiliation is front and center on the “news media” sites of NBC, CBS ABC, MSNBC and CNN in particular where the facts are routinely twisted, skewed or ignored as are GOP politicians who are working for those who elected them. Have you ever heard a good word about POTUS… Read more »

James, please watch the networks you mentioned and you will discover that you have been mislead. Many Republicans have and do appear on those networks. Chris Christie, Abby Huntsman & Meghan McCain signed with ABC News. CNN has Michael Caputo, Roger Stone, Corey Lewandowski, Ben Ferguson, Kevin Madden on presenting… Read more »
