President Donald Trump and the American voters haven’t heard the last of Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT). While he may have been handed a raw deal by the DNC during the 2016 election, Sanders has vowed to fight on.
After President Trump’s big league address to Congress Tuesday night, the 75-year-old senator had some serious gripes with what was and was not addressed.
- Social Security
- Wealth inequality
- Campaign finances
- Voter suppression
- Climate change
- Broken criminal justice system
- Free public college
He had some issues with some of Trump’s talking points, as well:
- “Draining the swamp”
- Defense spending
- Clean air and water
- Tax breaks/cuts
But, perhaps the biggest message from Sanders’s long rant came at the end. He encouraged his supporters to “continue the fight” and to push back against the administration and Republicans.
“Keep showing up. Keep calling Congress and continue the fight. The Republicans are now on the defensive and we’ve got to continue to push them back….
Only together when millions of people stand up for economic justice, for social justice, for racial justice, for environmental justice, only then can we create the political revolution that will turn this country around.”
Months after losing the nomination to Hillary Clinton, Sanders is still fighting for the “political revolution” he’s been desperate to see for decades.
