2020 Democratic presidential primary candidate and former Rep. Beto O’Rourke (D-Texas) blasted his primary opponent former Vice President Joe Biden (D) for his flips on key policy issues.
During an interview with CNN’s “State of the Union,” O’Rourke — who lost to Senator Ted Cruz (R-Texas) in the 2018 midterm elections — went after Biden for his flipping on major policy issues, such as the pro-life Hyde Amendment.
The Hyde Amendment prevents federal funds from being used to pay for abortions except in cases of rape, incest, or when the mother’s life is in danger.
“Within the same campaign — [Biden] said that he supported the Hyde Amendment, which would prevent middle and lower income women particularly of color from being able to make their own decisions about their own body and having access to the health care that would make that possible — changed his position on that.”

O’Rourke went on to call out the former vice president for his recent flip on China’s role as a global economic competitor to the U.S., saying he “dismissed” the communist nation as an economic opponent as “they have grossly violated the rules of trade.”
“He’s dismissed China as not a real threat to the United States of America,” said the former congressman. “At a time that they have grossly violated the rules of trade, made it harder for the American worker to be competitive on a national stage, threatened our interests and those of our allies in the Pacific and especially in the South China Sea. China is a very real threat.”
“And we need a president and a commander-in-chief who recognized that,” added O’Rourke.
Biden has gotten serious flak from his opponents for his flips on issues.
As IJR Red previously reported, President Donald Trump blasted Biden for his changes in policy stance, pointing out that “everything he says he’s taken back two weeks later because he’s getting slammed by the left.”
