President Joe Biden may have been hoping the 2024 Democratic primary would be winding down soon.
Instead, he is picking up another primary challenger.
In a video post on X on Wednesday morning, author Marianne Williamson said, āAs of today, I am unsuspending my campaign for the Presidency of the United States.ā
āI had suspended it because I was losing the horse race. But something so much more important than the horse race is at stake here and we must respond. Right now, we have a fascist standing at the door. Everybodyās all upset about it, well we should be upset about it. But weāre not going to defeat the fascist by ā well by what?ā she continued. āWhat is President Biden offering? He says āletās finish the job.ā Well, I hope you realize weāre talking about millions of voters for whom they canāt even survive unless theyāre working two or three jobs.ā
Watch the video below:
She ripped into Bidenās assertion the economy is doing well and argued that is only the case for 20% of Americans.
On Tuesday, Biden won the Michigan primary with roughly 81% of the vote. Another 13.3% of the vote was cast as āuncommittedā in an apparent protest of the presidentās support for Israel amid its war with Hamas.
And in third place came Williamson with 3% of the vote, despite the fact that she had previously suspended her presidential campaign.
Williamson received more votes than Rep. Dean Phillips (D-Minn.), who did not suspend his campaign before the primary.
In her video on Wednesday, she expressed support for several progressive causes such as eliminating student loan debt, raising the minimum wage, and Medicare for all, which she argued is āthe vision that will defeat Donald Trump.ā
She then appeared to mock Biden as she whispered and said the message of āLetās finish the jobā is not a winning one.
āWeāre watching a car crash in slow motion here, everybody knows it,ā she asserted. āWhatās delusional is just closing our eyes and crossing our fingers and just hoping that somehow Biden and Harris will be able to beat that juggernaut of dark, dark vision.ā
