2020 Democratic presidential primary frontrunner Joe Biden (D) may have landed in hot water after denying that he and his son spoke about the younger Biden’s Ukraine dealings.
While speaking to reporters on Saturday, Biden — the former vice president from former President Barack Obama‘s administration — claimed to Fox News’ Peter Doocy that his son Hunter Biden and he “never” discussed the latter’s Ukraine “business dealings” after the younger Biden had said the opposite in a July New Yorker piece.
Doocy: “How many times have you ever spoken to your son about his overseas business dealings?”
Biden: “I have never spoken to my son about his overseas business dealings.”

The younger Biden said in the interview that he and his father had spoken about his business activities in Ukraine a single time.
“Dad said, ‘I hope you know what you are doing,’ and I said, ‘I do,'” Hunter said to the New Yorker.
Chairwoman of the Republican National Committee Ronna McDaniel weighed in on the controversy in a Sunday tweet, calling Biden’s comments “clearly a lie.”
“Yesterday, Joe Biden said he never spoke with his son about his foreign business dealings. That’s clearly a lie,” wrote McDaniel. “The New Yorker reports that Hunter and his father did talk about his Ukranian business.”

The scrutiny towards the former vice president’s possible conversation with his son came after reports of President Donald Trump urged Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to look into both Bidens during a phone call on July 25th.
As IJR previously reported, the president told reporters on Sunday that the conversation was “largely congratulatory” and that he had spoken briefly about Biden with Zelensky during their call.
“The conversation I had was largely congratulatory, with largely corruption, all of the corruption taking place and largely the fact that we don’t want our people like Vice President Biden and his son creating to the corruption already in the Ukraine,” said Trump.
