‘Bombshell’ Morning in Trump Impeachment Inquiry: ‘Everyone Was in the Loop’

European Union Ambassador Gordon Sondland testified Wednesday morning in the ongoing impeachment hearings against President Donald Trump and, judging from the reaction on social media, threw just about everyone involved in the messy Ukraine scandal under the proverbial bus.

Sondland set the tone of the rest of the morning with an opening statement that criticized the White House and U.S. State Department for not giving him access to his own email and phone records, disparaged Rudy Giuliani, and said pretty much everyone in the administration knew that military aid to Ukraine was being held up until officials there announced an investigation into former Vice President Joe Biden and his son, Hunter Biden.

It was, in the words of some observers, a “bombshell day.”

Among the morning’s key moments:

The investigations into Joe Biden had to be announced by Ukrainian officials, but didn’t necessarily have to happen.

Everyone in the Trump administration was aware of the much-discussed “quid pro quo.”

Then again, maybe not. “[Trump] just said I want nothing. I want no quid pro quo. Tell Zelensky to do the right thing. Something to that effect.”

“Everyone was in the loop. It was no secret.”

Even Vice President Pence.

What do you think?

Ann doesn’t give a fig has never seen the face of someone flabbergasted with being confronted by sheer stupidity. The President said- “I want nothing. No quid pro quo” The face you are trying to mock is the same face I made and why they have now segued to bribery, intimidation, and being a big ol’ meany head.

A very confusing day I’d say and the Sondland guy seemed to contradict himself not that it mattered to the MSM or the left-wing loonies.

Someone left the toilet seat up in the White House, since President Trump lives there I presume that he did it. I could also be a whistleblower.

I presume that Schiff is a honest man. I have no proof. I guess I could be wrong.

Darrell and Linda, WHERE did you get the idea the aid was released in July.—That was floated by Cherl several weeks ago so there must be an outlet telling you so—and it is not IJR. The hold on the aid was not lifted until September 11th. That has been testified to SEVERAL times in the hearings. The DOD has denied they place a hold on the aid and were fully supportive of the aid to Ukraine. I find it perplexing that 19 IJR readers would up vote a comment they know to be inaccurate. “pretty much everyone in the administration knew…” A broad, vague generalization used by dishonest people, much like a child saying, when caught, “well, everybody else does it.” That phrase pretty much blows up any basis of truthfulness.

Sondland was already thoroughly discredited before he ever testified this morning. He’s been caught lying in his previous testimonies and was roundly criticized by other witnesses. According to Sondland’s testimony either he’s giving the truth and everyone else (and the everyone else list is very long) is lying, or it’s Sondland’s uncorroborated here-say testimony that is a lie.

How many times have we heard “bombshell” since Trump was elected? Asking for a friend. What did Sondland say when asked what Trump actually said to him? If you don’t know by now you live under a rock or you choose to ignore facts over feels. “I want nothing” is pretty darn clear.
