A source “close” to James Comey is claiming there are two real reasons President Donald Trump fired the FBI director — and neither of them have to do with the reasons given.

The source said Trump ultimately decided to fire Comey because he never provided him with any assurances of personal loyalty and the FBI’s investigation into allegations of collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia was accelerating, CNN’s Jake Tapper reported.

The explosive allegation, if proven, would open an entirely new can of worms for President Trump, who remains under intense scrutiny by Democrats.
The White House said Comey was fired based on recommendations from the Justice Department and that Trump had been considering replacing him “since the day he was elected.”
In a letter to Attorney General Jeff Sessions, Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein repeatedly cited Comey’s handling of the Hillary Clinton email investigation. Trump’s termination letter to Comey did not mention the Clinton investigation, but the president made it clear he is no longer confident in his ability to lead the FBI.
“James Comey will be replaced by someone who will do a far better job, bringing back the spirit and prestige of the FBI,” Trump tweeted on Wednesday.
He added, “Comey lost the confidence of almost everyone in Washington, Republican and Democrat alike. When things calm down, they will be thanking me!”
