During an interview with Fox News, the Acting Deputy Commissioner of Border Patrol explained what they are doing to prepare for potential incomers from the migrant caravan.
Deputy Commissioner Robert Perez claimed that members of the U.S. Customs and Border Protection have been preparing for weeks. These preparations are not only to keep Americans safe but also those attempting to immigrate and the Mexican citizens that may be effected.
“Their safety and security is ever-present in our minds as well,” said Perez.

There have been hundreds of border agents deployed to help the Department of Defense with the situation.
“We expect that it will be a peaceful demonstration, but nevertheless we will remain prepared for any contingency that might present itself,” Perez said.
While the CBP has dealt with immigration issues before, Perez claimed that the caravan was an “absolutely unique” situation unlike any other.
“We continue to use every tool available to us to get as accurate information … to know exactly what it is that the migrants are currently planning in and around Tijuana,” said Perez.
