President Donald Trump‘s 2020 re-election campaign manager took shots at Rep. Justin Amash (R-Mich.) for his calls to begin impeachment proceedings against the president.

In a tweet published Wednesday, Brad Parscale — who worked as the digital media director for Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign — torched Amash as being a “phony” who was “auditioning for the approval of the liberal media.”

He also slammed the Michigan congressman as “just another grandstanding swamp creature” in the tweet.

Parscale’s tweet came after Amash made headlines for breaking with his party and calling for the impeachment of Trump based on his interpretations of special counsel Robert Mueller‘s report into Russian election interference.

As IJR Red previously reported, Amash is the only Republican thus far to publicly call for the impeachment of Trump. He released a lengthy series of tweets last week defending his position on the issue and claiming that the president had taken part in “criminal activities.”

Amash’s impeachment comments earned him a primary challenger in pro-Trump Michigan state Rep. Jim Lower, who blasted him as being “out of touch” with his constituency in a statement.

Additionally, IJR Red noted that Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) — who, like Amash, styles himself as a libertarian — broke with the Michigan Republican, blasting Mueller’s report as the “antithesis of libertarianism” and that the “libertarian position” regarded how the investigation itself was started.

Amash received a standing ovation from the crowd at his first town hall since he demanded impeachment but also faced some questions from those who disagreed with his criticism of the president.

Amash can call himself a Libertarian or The Messiah. It makes no difference. It’s obvious that he is an attention seeking weasel.
