Senate Confirms Neil Gorsuch

A day after the Senate triggered the so-called nuclear option, paving the way for a Supreme Court nominee to get an up-and-down vote, the chamber held a floor vote on his confirmation.

And, as expected, Gorsuch was confirmed and will now be a Supreme Court justice.

The final vote tally was 54-45. Three Democrats joined the Republicans in voting for the judge — Sen. Joe Donnelly (D-IN), Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV), and Sen. Heidi Heitkamp (D-ND).

Gorsuch is filling the slot that had been open for more than a year following Justice Antonin Scalia’s death.
