California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) was confronted by a disgruntled mother over his handling of the Los Angeles County wildfires currently destroying the Pacific Palisades and other areas in the city of Los Angeles.
During an interview on Fox News āJesse Watters Primetimeā with host Jesse Watters, California resident Rachel Darvish talked about her confrontation with Newsom as he visited fire-ravaged areas, including her daughterās school which had perished in the fires.
Darvish said she really wanted to believe Newsom when he said he was currently on a phone call with President Joe Biden.
āI really wanna believe him, I really want to, and there was no cellphone reception in certain areas, OK? But thatās a big problem in and of itself, why doesnāt he have a satellite truck with a cellphone? I drove around with reporters, Iām in a satellite truck, I can talk to you. So, the fact that he couldnāt get cell reception was really, really ⦠not first-string,ā Darvish said.
Darvish said that she did know that Newsom was at least ātrying,ā but noted its ātime for something new.ā
āItās time for something new ⦠Why canāt it be someone that knows what theyāre doing, that knows how to plan?ā Darvish asked, noting the frequency of wildfires in California has done nothing to prompt an appropriate preparation plan from current leaders.

In the video of Darvish confronting Newsom, she can be seen approaching Newsom as he attempts to get into his vehicle and asked what he was doing about the fires.
āGovernor, I live here governor, that was my daughterās school, please tell me what youāre going to do about it,ā Darvish said.
In response, Newsom said he was currently on the phone with President Joe Biden to see what he could do.
āIām literally talking to the president right now, to specifically answer the question of what we can do for and your daughter,ā Newsom said, before stating he was trying to get cellphone service because he has ātried five timesā to get Biden on the phone.
āI want to be here when you call the president,ā Darvish told Newsom.
āIām doing that right now,ā Newsom responded, āAnd itās to immediately get reimbursements and individual assistance to help you. Iām devastated for you, Iām so sorry, especially for your daughter.ā
Darvish asked Newsom why there was no water in the fire hydrants, and what he was going to do about it.
Newsom said he was doing everything that he could, including āmaking sure that people are safe.ā
