A caller on “The Breakfast Club” declared Thursday that he would never again cast a ballot for a Democratic candidate after seeing President Donald Trump follow through on his campaign vows.
A CBS News poll released Feb. 9 found that 70% of voters felt Trump was keeping his campaign promises, which included strengthening the border and reducing government waste. The caller, who identified himself as Xavier, said on the show’s “Get It Off Your Chest” segment that in contrast to Trump, Democrats fail to act on their pledges.
LISTEN:
“Man, I’ll never vote for another Democrat again,” Xavier, said, prompting co-host DJ Envy to ask for his reasoning.
“How does Trump sign 100 executive orders? And you get a million promises from a Democrat, but they don’t ever come through with one promise they give you,” the caller explained.
Immediately after being sworn in to his second term, Trump signed over 200 executive actions within 12 hours, tackling issues spanning from the border crisis to the economy.
“Brother, you’re not wrong. You know, you got one party that’s about action, and you got one party that’s about inaction,” Charlamagne responded. “And you know, I was literally having that conversation with a good friend of mine this week. That is why people have soured on Democrats. You know, regardless of what Republicans are doing, you see Republicans doing something.”
Charlamagne added that although he would not join the caller in ceasing voting for Democrats, he said he does not believe the party will regain power in the near future “unless something changes drastically.”
Democrats have faced criticism for prioritizing opposition to Trump’s administration over delivering results for Americans.
For instance, ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith told Fox News host Sean Hannity Wednesday that their apparent anti-Trump obsession could cost them future elections.
“Here’s the ultimate crime that’s going on: They’re literally sitting up on Capitol Hill, not all but most of them … acting like their only job is to be an opposite of Donald Trump in every way, shape, form and fashion,” Smith said. “That’s not going to get them the midterms. That’s not going to help them regain the White House. It’s fool’s gold.”
Wisconsinites who backed Trump in the 2024 election expressed their satisfaction with the president following through on his pledges during a March 4 MSNBC segment.
“[I’m] feeling very good. He’s doing what he said he was going to do,” one male voter said. “And change is happening very quickly.”
“I feel great and cautious. I think he’s doing a great job delivering what he said. We’re moving at light speed,” another said.
