The U.S. military, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, Hezbollah and Israeli Defense Forces all exchanged more missiles and drones on Tuesday and Wednesday, adding even more cracks to an already-shaky ceasefire agreement.

Repeated firefights across the Persian Gulf have left experts wondering what involved countries actually want for the Middle East. All four sides in the conflicts have expressed interest in achieving peace, but continued military actions create an impression of there being no end in sight.

“The ceasefire becomes more fragile each day that passes without a real diplomatic process to resolve the conflict,” Adam Weinstein, the deputy director of the Middle East program at the Quincy Institute for Responsible Statecraft, told the Daily Caller News Foundation.

Israel intercepted rockets fired by Hezbollah from Lebanon on Wednesday, Reuters reported, citing the Israel Defense Force (IDF). Israel reportedly also fired a drone near Beirut, striking a vehicle in the area, the outlet reported, citing Lebanese security sources.

“Following the sirens that sounded a short while ago in the area of Misgav Am, the Israeli Air Force intercepted two projectiles that crossed from Lebanon into Israeli territory,” the IDF said in a post on Telegram.

“The United States remains cognizant of the challenges posed by Hizballah’s continued attacks on Israel, without the consent or approval of the Government of Lebanon, undertaken in order to derail this process,” a White House official told the DCNF. “The United States welcomes the commitment of both governments to finding a long-term solution despite these ongoing challenges.”

Hezbollah’s official military media Telegram channel claimed that the Israeli military killed Lebanese civilians and announced its retaliation in the English-language version of its posts.

“In defense of Lebanon and its people, and in response to the ‘Israeli’ enemy’s violation of the ceasefire and the attacks on villages in southern Lebanon, which resulted in the martyrdom of civilians and injuries among others, the Islamic Resistance fighters targeted at 18:30 on Wednesday 03-06-2026 a gathering of ‘Israeli’ enemy army soldiers in the vicinity of the historic Al-Shaqif Castle, southern Lebanon, with rocket barrages,” the Islamic Resistance said in the Telegram post.

President Donald Trump has claimed that “Iran really wants to make a deal.” But it’s unclear where things still stand after the Iranian-linked Tasnim News Agency reportedly claimed that Tehran was backing away from negotiations over Israel’s campaign in Lebanon.

The Bahraini Embassy in Washington, the Kuwaiti Embassy in Washington, the Israeli Embassy in Washington, the Lebanese Embassy in Washington, the Iranian Mission to the United Nations and the State Department did not reply to requests for comment.

“The White House wants a deal but they falsely believe they can dictate all the terms rather than accepting some level of compromise,” Weinstein told the DCNF. “It [a deal with Iran] would need to include assurances that future attacks won’t happen and a means for Iran to rebuild its damaged infrastructure.”

“We’ve knocked out their navy, we’ve knocked out their air force, we’ve knocked out their anti-aircraft everything apparatus, everything they have, their radar, they have very little left,” Trump said on April 29 in a video uploaded to X by the State Department. “And they have some missiles, a small percentage; they have a small percentage of missile-making facilities, we’ve knocked out about 80% of them.”

Those figures have been contradicted by other reports, with senior intelligence officials telling The New York Times in May that Iran reportedly retains 30 of 33 coastal missile batteries and nearly 70% of its mobile missile launchers.

Back-and-forth strikes of this nature have been plaguing the Iran War for over a month, despite the ongoing ceasefire, with various actions occurring on April 22, May 4, May 7, May 25 and on Sunday.

“The Strait of Hormuz and vulnerability of the Gulf is Iran’s main source of leverage and there’s no military solution to it,” Weinstein told the DCNF.

‘Just Sit Back And Relax’

Iranian drones and missiles struck Kuwait International Airport, killing one person and injuring more than 60 others, according to a Wednesday X post from the Kuwaiti Ministry of Health.

Should military actions continue amid the fragile ceasefire in the Iran War?

The U.S. military conducted a new round of “defensive strikes” in Iran that targeted missile launch sites and Iranian minelaying vessels, Reuters reported, citing CENTCOM.

The Kuwaiti Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned the Iranian attack, saying the strikes were unnecessarily escalating the conflict and heightening tensions in the region in a post on X.

Kuwait Airways and Jazeera Airways, after they complete safety measures, Reuters reported, citing the civil aviation authority.

Iranian forces recently targeted the U.S. 5th Fleet headquarters in Bahrain and a U.S. air base, Reuters reported, citing Iranian media. CENTCOM denied that these targets had been hit, Reuters reported.

The Iran War continues to draw from U.S. taxpayers’ piggy bank, with the bill climbing into the tens of billions.

“And so now we think it [spending on the Iran War] is closer to 29 [billion dollars],” Department of War Comptroller and Chief Financial Officer Jules W. Hurst III said during a House Appropriations Subcommittee hearing on May 12.

This expense is stacked on top of the $2 billion for foreign nations in proposed defense expenses as part of the 2027 National Defense Authorization Act. It is unclear whether the authorization will pass in its current form, as it still needs to clear the committee’s scheduled markup and overcome other legislative hurdles.

“Just sit back and relax, it will all work out well in the end – It always does,” Trump said in the Truth social post.
