After being slapped with the death penalty for the 2015 massacre of members of a church in Charleston, South Carolina, convicted murderer Dylann Roof wants to fire his attorneys, who he calls his “biological enemies.”
“My two currently appointed attorneys, Alexandra Yates and Sapna Mirchandani, are Jewish and Indian respectively. It is therefore quite literally impossible that they and I could have the same interests relating to my case,” Roof wrote in a handwritten request to the appeals court.Screenshot/Fourth Circuit Court Of Appeals
The request, which was obtained by Fox News, also referenced the Jewish lawyer in his federal trial, claiming that race was an issue in the decision.
Roof argued: “The lawyer appointed to represent me at my Federal trial was David Isaac Bruck, who is also Jewish. His ethnicity was a constant source of conflict even with my constant efforts to look past it.”
During the federal trial, Bruck and Roof sparred over using mental illness as a defense — according to his journal, Roof believed that psychology was a “Jewish invention” that “does nothing but invent diseases and tell people they have problems when they don’t.”

Dylann Roof was sentenced in 2015 for murdering 9 African-Americans attending a bible study session at Emanuel AME Church.
There has been no decision from the appeals court on whether it will grant his latest request that was submitted on Monday.
