Chief of Staff John Kelly Responds to Democrat Who Called Him a ‘Disgrace to the Uniform’ — It’s Fire

Last week, Democratic Illinois Rep. Luis Gutierrez proclaimed White House Chief of Staff John Kelly, a Gold Star father and retired Marine Corps general, a “disgrace to the uniform.”

Gutierrez has no military service record.

Kelly finally responded to the personal attack in an email to Fox News on Sunday — and it’s exactly what you would expect from a seasoned military veteran:

As far as the congressman and other irresponsible members of congress [sic] are concerned, they have the luxury of saying what they want as they do nothing and have almost no responsibility. They can call people liars but it would be inappropriate for me to say the same thing back at them. As my blessed mother used to say “empty barrels make the most noise.”

The congressman has a right to his opinion.

Not only did Kelly take the high road by not resorting to name-calling and personal attacks, he used the memory of his mother to drop the proverbial hammer.

Gutierrez attacked Kelly over his reported support of President Donald Trump’s decision to rescind the Obama-era Deferred Action on Childhood Arrivals program (DACA) that shielded young illegal immigrants brought to the U.S. as children from deportation.

“Gen. Kelly is a hypocrite who is a disgrace to the uniform he used to wear,” the congressman said in the controversial statement.
