Former FBI Assistant Director Believes There Are ‘Strong Indications’ of FISA Abuse in Trump Campaign Probe

A former FBI assistant director who served under former President George W. Bush gave his thoughts about the upcoming report into the FBI and Justice Department’s conduct during the probe into President Donald Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign.

While giving an interview on Fox News‘ “America’s Newsroom,” former FBI Assistant Director Chris Swecker was pressed about Inspector General Michael Horowitz’s upcoming report into the Department of Justice and the FBI’s conduct during the probe of Trump’s campaign while investigating Russian election interference.

Swecker answered by lauding Horowitz and his previous work as “very thorough” before proclaiming that he believes that “there is something there” when it came to alleged FISA abuse by the FBI.

“I think that there is something there, and I think it’s going to be a very impactful report. FISA is a process that has been entrusted to the FBI. It’s a very intrusive process. You have to be honest and straight-up with the judges.”

Watch the video here:

“You have to give them all the information, not selective information,” continued Swecker. “And you have an obligation to update that information if something new comes up that goes against the probable cause laid out in the original affidavit.”

Swecker went on to add that he believes there are “strong indications” that there was “some FISA abuse” in the probe and that “critical information” was left out when presented to the FISA court judges.

Horowitz has been working on an investigation into the origins of the FISA warrant used to launch the investigation into Trump’s former presidential campaign aide Carter Page that was partially based on the infamous and now-discredited dossier compiled by former U.K. intelligence officer Christopher Steele.

As IJR Red previously reported, House Oversight Committee ranking member Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) said that he “expects” to receive Horowitz’s report in “May or June.”

The FISA judges should be livid, having been lied to. AG Barr has scared the Dumbos badly. No wonder they called for his ‘impeachment’ too. When the chickens come home to roost, ‘impeachment’ will ring hollow as ‘indictment’ becomes the word of the day for the lefty usurpers.
