When history is made by the first-ever federal indictment of a former president, you might expect to be a little solemn.

Yet, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton decided to re-emerge to dunk on the news about former President Donald Trump’s indictment.

In a tweet on Friday, Clinton shared a picture of herself wearing a hat with the words “But her emails” on it.

“Bringing this back in light of recent news,” she added

She then encouraged people to buy the hat to support the organization Onward Together, which is dedicated to helping progressive projects.

Bringing this back in light of recent news:

Get a limited-edition But Her Emails hat and support @onwardtogether groups working to strengthen our democracy.https://t.co/4TiUxjmRNY pic.twitter.com/uSofeNjBxy

It did not take long for her tweet to get trashed:

The hubris of knowing you violated the same laws Trump is being accused of breaking… and gloating about getting away with it… is egregious even for you.

this is so desperate and sad

Bragging about the weaponization of the DOJ to give democrats a pass and target Republicans isn’t a great look.

Still not president.

James Comey all but admitted Hillary committed felonies by mishandling classified information: setting up a private server in her home. They didn't prosecute her because – as Comey revealed – he hated Trump and was desperate to see him lose.

Now she thinks it's funny: https://t.co/SG5NKw44y3

My God. You're not helping anyone or anything. Sit out a few plays, ffs. https://t.co/JtsOgrjvGV

Hillary decided to chime-in at this moment to remind you that DoJ let her get away with the same crime https://t.co/7zBEezwAqn

Hillary Clinton with a helpful reminder that the mishandling of classified information isn’t a crime for everyone https://t.co/VdfhA3vuNL

The “but her emails” line is a throwback to 2016 when Clinton’s opponents used to focus on her use of a private email server instead of Trump’s flaws.

In 2016, FBI Director James Comey announced Clinton would not be charged for her use of a private email server during her time as secretary of State and her handling of classified documents. At the time, Comey said there was “evidence of potential violations of the statutes regarding the handling of classified information.”

However, he added, “Our judgment is that no reasonable prosecutor would bring such a case.”

Clinton’s tweet comes after it was reported Trump was indicted for his handling of classified documents.

The Wall Street Journal noted federal investigators have been building a case that claims the former president “deliberately withheld sensitive documents related to U.S. intelligence and defense plans, even after prosecutors demanded the return of all such documents last year.”

Clinton clearly does not have positive feelings about Trump.

But if she cared about protecting the image of the impartiality of the Justice Department, she would not be poking her head up to remind everyone that she skated despite the FBI director saying there is “evidence of potential violations” of the law on her part.

If you are trying to help convince everyone there is a two-tiered system of justice and a deep state cabal that hates Trump, flaunting the different outcomes in the two investigations is a fantastic way to do that.
