CNN Gets Torched on Twitter for Barr Press Conference, Mueller Report Release Coverage

Conservatives, media pundits and Twitter users alike took aim at CNN on Thursday, torching the news network over its coverage of the public release of special counsel Robert Mueller’s bombshell report and Attorney General William Barr’s press conference prior to the release.

Following Barr’s press conference ahead of the report’s release, CNN’s Mueller report coverage of was hosted by a nine-person panel, with the moderators being Jake Tapper and Wolf Blitzer.

The outlet’s “group therapy session” was widely mocked online, and few seemed to forget that their coverage over the course of the investigation was incorrect on a number of occasions. Some CNN viewers took to Twitter to levy digs against the news company.

Former game show host Chuck Woolery said that “they look[ed] foolish”:

Newsmax host John Cardillo offered his condolences:

The Washington Examiner even gave its take:

CNN continued to get slammed on Twitter over its coverage of the events as the day continued.

Take a look:

Eric Trump, the president’s son, took jabs as well, slamming the network as having a “full meltdown” that was “fun to watch.” Additionally, Donald Trump Jr. also got his shot in, wishing them “#BetterLuckNextHoax,” while former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee said he “[felt] sorry” for CNN.

Barr gave a press conference on Thursday before the public release of the Mueller report, where he said that he would provide “the greatest degree of transparency” legally permitted.

The 400-page document was posted to the Justice Department’s website the same day as the press conference. As IJR Red previously reported, President Donald Trump joked that he was “having a good day” while hosting a Wounded Warriors event at the White House on Thursday.

Some lawmakers — including Speaker of the House Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and Senate Minority Leader Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) — have called for Mueller to testify publicly in front of both chambers of Congress, as IJR Blue reported.

While Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee Jerrold Nadler (D-N.Y.) has asked for Mueller to testify, Senate Judiciary Chairman Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) has conversely said that he was “not interested” in having Mueller come up in front of his committee, as IJR Red noted.

After reading the actual Mueller report, those tweets look so very foolish. Can anyone explain how Barr thought he would have a shred of credibility left AFTER the public READ the report he was releasing in 90 minutes? Does Mitt Romney’s reaction give you a CLUE as to what the actual readers of the report think of the actions and non-actions of the Trump campaign and WH staff? I am guessing if Chuck Whoolery has since read the report, he took down that tweet.

Since they are the Cannabis News? Network, it’s about time they show everybody they are smokin what they are shovelin.
