CNN Lets Jeffrey Lord Go After He Jokingly Tweets ‘Sieg Heil’

Conservative commentator Jeffrey Lord no longer works for CNN after he mocked Media Matters, a left-wing media watchdog Lord described as fascist, by tweeting “Sieg Heil.”

CNN announced Lord’s departure in a statement Thursday, which read, “Nazi salutes are indefensible.” The news came just hours after Lord mocked Media Matters President Angelo Carusone, who had asked Lord why he expected people to take him seriously when Lord didn’t even take himself seriously.

Carusone was responding to one of Lord’s articles, which reported on an exchange the two had over Lord alleging that Carusone’s organization was fascist.

Lord originally called Media Matters fascist for mounting a campaign against Fox News host Sean Hannity. Carusone derided the article with that claim and said Lord was “lying” to his readers.

Lord, according to CNN’s Brian Stelter, was a prominent proponent of President Donald Trump.
