There was just one thing CNN’s Chris Wallace could do when he heard one of his guests claim Republican vice presidential candidate J.D. Vance has “not had one misstep” in the 2024 presidential election campaign — challenge that assertion.

And that is just what Wallace did when Rich Lowry, the editor-in-chief of the conservative National Review, made that claim, the HuffPost reported.

Lowry at first acknowledged Vance having a “rocky introduction to national life” when Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump picked him as his running mate.

This includes his controversial “childless cat lady” comments that resurfaced and the fact he’s “not necessarily the most warm and fuzzy campaigner.”

“But he is proven a tireless, fearless, really effective spokesman for this ticket,” Lowry said. “He talks to and interacts with the press every single day, does hostile interviews, and, as far as I can tell, has not had one misstep.”

That’s when Wallace stepped in.

“Wait a minute,” Wallace said in footage that has been shared on YouTube.

Wallace then listed a litany of controversies that have plagued Vance in just the last few days alone, including Vance saying Vice President Kamala Harris could “go to hell” regarding the Arlington National Cemetery controversy, IJR reported.

Lowery stood his ground by stating Vance has done what he has been tasked to do — be a “forceful critic and attack dog.”

After some back and forth between Wallace and Lowry, Wallace simply said, “It’s going to be a long two months.”
