Quarterback Kaepernick Resolves ‘Pending Grievances’ with NFL: Lawyer

Loren Elliott/Reuters

Former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick, one of the most visible players to protest during the U.S. national anthem against racial injustice, has resolved pending grievances with the National Football League, Kaepernick’s lawyer said on Friday.

The attorney, Mark Geragos, said on Twitter that the resolution was subject to a confidentiality agreement and so there would be no further comment by either party.

Kaepernick, 31, filed a collusion grievance against NFL owners in October 2017 after going unsigned as a free agent through the fall of that season, following his decision to opt out of a contract with the San Francisco 49ers.

He has been unable to find a team to play for ever since.

Kaepernick was among the first of several NFL players to kneel during the anthem to protest social injustice and police brutality.

While player protests during the anthem subsided in the season just ended, the issue came up last month when Commissioner Roger Goodell said Kaepernick was not the victim of a coordinated effort by owners to bar him from playing, but rather just not a good fit for any of the 32 teams.

Kaepernick led the 49ers to the Super Bowl game in 2013, but has not suited up since the 2016 season.

I saw where he might land in Carolina; the Panthers took on Tom Kitten and as well might need this Peter Rabbit. That team and its fans could absorb this poison without too many adverse effects. I also heard the Pats might be interested. I suspect that’s fake news – designed to trick us into warming up to the Kaeperdick: the thinking goes if the Super Bowl champs think he’s a player, then we just might? Come on Man!
I’ll kiss the Kaeperdick’s rear on Main St. if the Patriots contract him

Totally left out of this article, of course, is his financial settlement. He would have received a considerable amount of money.

“the resolution was subject to a confidentiality agreement”. The financials ARE what’s being kept confidential.

Do you ALWAYS need a map, or softa’s help?

He is divisive and instead of doing some good in the community he called white police racist and knelled during the national anthem. The opportunities you were given are because of this country and your disrespect for this country is sickening tome and millions of Americans.

He’s guilty of exposing what many Americans preferred hidden. A minority of Whites support one level of justice for us & much lower standard for Blacks. Trump stepped in with his support of unequal justice & added opposition of freedom of speech for those who want equal justice for ALL. The disrespect for the constitutional rights on which this country was founded, was exposed for the world to see. Shooting of unarmed Blacks is okay BUT God forbid anyone kneel for the anthem.

You are right. Unarmed blacks being shot by other blacks. Why doesn’t Kaepernick do some police ride alongs in south Chicago and take a knee there?

Mark, don’t confuse philly. She doesn’t believe a black EVER shoots a black. ONLY whites shoot UNARMED blacks in her world.

“instead of doing some good in the community”

Colin has a record of helping communities. You can’t prove otherwise, either.

Divisive? Only because you believe it.

Will he be wearing his pig police socks when helping those communities?

Let us not forget he isn’t a good QB.

Exactly!!! What team wants to pick up a high maintenance player….who sucks???

Pumpernickel, or whatever his name is, had every opportunity in life as an abandoned orphan, adopted by a well-off white family who catered to his every whim. Now he protests the country who gave him the opportunity of a lifetime!!!

Chad, you simply have a disagreement with Colin. No need for the jealousy. It is unbecoming. Colin is opposed to unequal justice in a country that holds itself out as the model of democracy. You are okay with shooting unarmed Black citizens. You are okay with the freedom of speech rights of those who agree with you, just not for those who disagree. It’s America it is okay to disagree with the founding principles of our country. Just don’t confuse your opinions with patriotism.

How right you are. So many different ways to protest. Lets do the nations anthem. Look at me. I am important. He is a clown. He has no respect for this country. Why is it that Hollywood, most politicians and the million dollar athletes; never serve for our nation?

Phyllis Softa

“never serve” indicates you have not done your research. Just because Trump the reality TV star turned politician did not serve should not be mistaken for the entire industry. https://www.wearethemighty.com/lists/military-celebrities

If you reference Trump. Tell me about the stellar military career of Bubba, Jr and Barry. I guess I have to be specific with you. I was talking about the present Hollywood and athletes.

Unlike Trump & Reagan, Obama & Clinton have never been part of the entertainment or athletic scene? In what world are Adam Driver, Morgan Freeman, Ice- T, Tom Selleck, Pat Zajac, Oliver Stone, & James Earl Jones NOT PRESENTLY WORKING in movies or TV?

Mark Swatzki

Almost everyone you named is older than me. I served in the early 70s. OK I will type slowly for you. How about this? How many in Hollywood or pro athletics under the age of 35 have served in our military?

Phyllis Softa

I will return the favor and again type Adam Driver. He served long AFTER you. US Marine Corp 2002-2005. He joined AFTER 9/11/2001. Won an Oscar last year for BlacKkKlansman. Made 3 more films last year, including Star Wars Episode IX and all scheduled to be released in 2019. You did not earlier specify that you wanted only still active in Hollywood. When I provided you that, then you wanted younger. Thank you for your service, but going forward you are on your own.
