‘Conservative Black Chick’ Asks Rep John Lewis ‘What Have You Done Since Selma?’

Congresman John Lewis of Georgia is boycotting the inauguration of Donald Trump because he claims his presidency is “illegitimate,” but he’s taking rhetorical incoming from a woman who calls herself the “Conservative Black Chick.”

Crystal Wright told Fox Business host Stuart Varney that Lewis himself is an “illegitimate congressman” for saying something so “disrespectful.”

And then she pierced the beatific bubble that enshrouds the civil rights icon who marched with Martin Luther King, Junior Selma, Alabama back in 1965:

“And, you know, what I want to know is what has John Lewis done since he marched on Selma? Really. He’s riding on the coattails of something that happened over 50 years ago. …[T]o me, his position in Congress is illegitimate.”

On Monday, the Georgia congressman tweeted message about Martin Luther King, Jr. and their march on Selma, Alabama, in support of voting rights:

But Wright says Congressman Lewis has been dining out on that march for the past 50 years:

“John Lewis has done more for himself in the past 50 plus years than he’s done for black people.”

On Friday, Mr. Lewis claimed that President-elect Trump’s election was “illegitimate” because, he claimed, “the Russians participated in helping this man get elected.”

Donald Trump fired back via Twitter, telling the congressman that he should spend more time concentrating on his job as a public servant than passing false information:

Intelligence officials and the FBI concluded that there never any hacks into voting machines during the election but that hackers were able to penetrate the Democratic National Committee emails as well as Clinton campaign chair John Podesta’s emails. The DNC didn’t allow the FBI to check their servers to double check on what happened.

Wright told Varney that there’s a racial double standard at work:

“If Donald Trump was not white and a Republican, John Lewis would have no problem with anything that he had said, how he’s conducting his presidency.

If John Lewis was not black, nobody would care what he is saying.”

While Wright took that tack, Republican Senator Tim Scott called for a cease fire:

Congressman Lewis told NBC that he believes in “forgiveness” and “trying to work with people,” but is boycotting the Trump inaugural along with several other Democrats.
