After Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) was ousted as Speaker of the House, some conservatives rallied to voice support for nominating former President Donald Trump.

According to Newsweek, multiple congressmen expressed support for Trump to take on the role.

Rep. Troy Nehls (R-Texas) released a statement, noting, “When the U.S. House of Representatives reconvenes, my first order of business will be to nominate Donald J. Trump for Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives.”

“President Trump, the greatest President of my lifetime, has a proven record of putting America First and will make the House great again,” he added.

He also posted to X, formerly Twitter, and stated, “I nominate Donald J. Trump for Speaker of the House.”

Kevin McCarthy will NOT be running again as Speaker.

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) wrote on X, “The only candidate for Speaker I am currently supporting is President Donald J. Trump.”

He will end the war in Ukraine.

He will secure the border.

He will end the politically weaponized government.

He will make America energy independent again.

He will pass my bill to stop…

She listed his America First talking points and then concluded, “He has a proven 4 year record as President of the United States of America.

VOA News reported that the Speaker of the House does not have to be a member of Congress.

In January, Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) nominated Trump to be Speaker before McCarthy was voted into the role, per Axios.

Now that McCarthy is out, this idea is gaining more support.

Rep. Greg Steube (R-Fla.) expressed his support on X. He wrote, “.@realDonaldTrump for Speaker.”

Rep. Andy Ogles (R-Tenn.) also listed Trump as one of his choices to take over as Speaker of the House.

But it’s not just politicians who support this concept.

Podcast hosts The Hodgetwins stated, “Hodgetwins are officially nominating TRUMP as speaker of the house because it would be funny as hell to see the left and RINOs lose their mind.”

Political Commentator Rogan O’Handley wrote, “I posted in January of 2021 calling for President Trump to be Speaker of the House.”

“Kevin McCarthy has announced he will not run for Speaker again,” he added. “We may now have the chance to see a Speaker Trump,” he concluded.
