Corey Lewandowski, President Donald Trump’s onetime campaign manager, sat down for an interview with “Fox & Friends,” during which he defended the president over the report that Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin had a second, undisclosed meeting during the G-20 Summit in Hamburg, Germany.
According to reports, the second conversation between the two leaders lasted “roughly an hour,” and that the only people to take part in the discussion were Trump, Putin, and a single Russian interpreter employed by the Kremlin.
Putin was seated next to First Lady Melania Trump, which Lewandowski uses as evidence that whatever conversation may have occurred was completely above board. However, in his reasoning, he takes numerous opportunities to fawn over Mrs. Trump.
“Our best representative, who is stunningly beautiful and incredibly intelligent, sat next to Vladimir Putin at the request of the German chancellor… And then you know what our president did? He got up and he walked over and he saw his beautiful wife, the First Lady of the United States, and he had a conversation with her.
How is this anything other than the President of the United States going over and seeing the first lady who, by the way, speaks five languages, is incredibly beautiful, and is incredibly intelligent, and is a great representative of our country.”
Lewandowski, who was fired from the Trump campaign in June 2016, holds no official position in the Trump administration. But he appears frequently on cable programs where he defends the actions of President Trump.
