Cruz, Cassidy Introduce Resolution to Label Antifa as ‘Domestic Terrorists’

Two Republican senators have introduced a resolution calling for the anti-fascist group Antifa to be labeled as “domestic terrorists” in response to their recent protests in Portland, Oregon where a conservative journalist was attacked.

Senators Ted Cruz (R-Texas) and Bill Cassidy (R-La.) introduced the resolution to the Senate on Friday to condemn the actions taken by Antifa and to mark the group as “domestic terrorists.”

In a statement, Cruz blasted Antifa as “a group of hateful, intolerant radicals” that use “aggressive violence” to advance their “unhinged agenda” and that their “actions” have shown that their “only purpose” was to “inflict harm on those who oppose their views.”

“Antifa is a group of hateful, intolerant radicals who pursue their unhinged agenda through aggressive violence,” Sen. Cruz said. “Time and time again, their actions have demonstrated that their only purpose is to inflict harm on those who oppose their views. The hate and violence they spread must be stopped, and I am proud to introduce this resolution with Senator Cassidy to properly identify what Antifa are: domestic terrorists.”

Cassidy torched the group in his statement as being “violent masked bullies” that are “protected by liberal privilege” when they “‘fight fascism’ with actual fascism” and called for “courage, not cowardice” by elected officials “who allow violence against the innocent.”

“Antifa are terrorists, violent masked bullies who ‘fight fascism’ with actual fascism, protected by Liberal privilege,” said Dr. Cassidy. “With bullies, they get their way until someone says no. There must be courage, not cowardice, from the elected officials who allow violence against the innocent.”

The resolution itself references the attack on conservative journalist Andy Ngo during an Antifa protest in Portland last month.

As IJR Red previously reported, Ngo suffered a brain bleed and had to spend the night in the hospital after he was beaten while covering the protest.

Thank goodness, Finally, finally our senators are hearing us and stopping these Domestic terrorists by any means necessary within the law! Every single state should have a law outlawing these masked terrorist criminals! Very proud of Senators Cruz and Cassidy!!!

If they were wearing white hoods instead of black masks who’d be hesitating to call them what they are-domestic terrorists.

Why did this take so long?

The CINOs in the Senate had better pass this one, and the House had better do something similar and all the Repubs vote for its passage, too.

I have little, if any hope of it actually passing the House, but some of the Dems have surprised me before. Who knows.

I find it not the least bit councidental that these Antifa types proliferate where little to no support or respect for the 2nd Amendment exists. They know that they won’t get shot.
