Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) is taking a swipe at, not one, but three freshmen Congress members following Rep. Rashida Tlaib’s (D-Mich.) comments on the Palestinian response to the Holocaust during a recent Yahoo! News’ “Skullduggery” podcast.
“There’s always kind of a calming feeling, I tell folks, when I think of the Holocaust, and the tragedy of the Holocaust, and the fact that it was my ancestors — Palestinians — who lost their land and some lost their lives, their livelihood, their human dignity, their existence in many ways, have been wiped out, and some people’s passports,” Tlaib said on Friday.
“And, just all of it was in the name of trying to create a safe haven for Jews, post-the Holocaust, post-the tragedy and the horrific persecution of Jews across the world at that time. And, I love the fact that it was my ancestors that provided that, right, in many ways, but they did it in a way that took their human dignity away and it was forced on them.”
Several conservatives were quick to knock Tlaib’s comments as “twisted and disgusting,” as IJR Red previously reported.
Tlaib — who is Palestinian-American —tried to clarify her remark, claiming it was taken out of context, according to a statement from her spokesperson Denzel McCampbell.

However, among those criticizing the freshman congresswoman is Cruz, who is calling out the “radicals.”
“The Democratic Party as a whole is galloping to the left,” Cruz said on Fox News’ “Hannity” on Monday. He continued:
“And one of the components of that is the extreme left has a long history of anti-Semitism of anti-Israel hatred. We’re seeing it with this freshman trio, these three freshman house members who keep expressing anti-Semitic, anti-Israel comments. Whether it’s congresswoman Tlaib’s comments about the Holocaust, which are just, they’re horrifying, or whether it’s Congresswoman Omar’s tweet attacking Israel, saying ‘it’s all about the Benjamins.’ It’s repeating anti-Semitic attacks.”
While the Republican lawmaker took aim at Tlaib, he also knocked Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) — who’s come under fire several times for anti-Semitic remarks — and seemingly took a swipe at Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) — who rose as a Democratic socialist star since she was elected to office, but who has also found herself in hot water.

While Republicans knocked Tlaib for her comment on the Holocaust and Palestinians, as IJR News reported, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) called for an apology from House Republicans and the president “for their gross misrepresentations.”
