Newly Sworn-in Dan Crenshaw Shows Off ‘All American’ Pride With Fellow GOP Wounded Veteran Reps

Three wounded veterans and congressmen united together at the swearing-in ceremony on Thursday, showing off their “5 eyes. 5 arms. 4 legs.” and their “All American” pride.

Newly sworn-in-Rep. Dan Crenshaw (Texas-02) stood by fellow GOP congressmen Brian Mast (Fla.-18) and Jim Baird (Ind.-04) in a tweet that represented the three men’s military sacrifices and now Congress positions.

Through their military service, the three men earned Bronze Stars and Purple Hearts.

Three men’s brave sacrifices in the military

Crenshaw is a former Navy seal who did five tours and was hit by an IED blast on his third tour in 2013. He woke up from a medically induced coma to learn that he lost his right eye from the blast and his left eye was severely injured. After many surgeries, the former Lieutenant Commander gained his sight back in his left eye and went on to serve in two more tours, according to his campaign website.

Mast served in the U.S. Army for 12 years and worked as a bomb disposal expert in Afghanistan. When he found the last improvised explosive, he lost both of his legs, according to his biography.

Baird served in the U.S. Army and lost his arm during the Vietnam War.

Crenshaw gained popularity since he was elected during the 2018 midterms and had a run-in with Pete Davidson on “Saturday Night Live,” where Davidson made fun of Crenshaw’s eye patch, and then later apologized.

As IJR Red reported, Crenshaw recently shared, in the midst of the partial government shutdown, his personal military experience on the efficiency of walls, helping to back President Donald Trump’s push for border wall funding and border security.

“A wall is effective. It’s a crucial part of border security. I spent a whole career infiltrating places,” Crenshaw said. “And you know what? When we come up upon a wall, it matters.”
