Crenshaw Rips Obama Aide for Doubting Tanker Attack Iran Link: ‘You’re Not Really a Trusted Source’

A former top adviser to former President Barack Obama was torched by freshman Texas Rep. Dan Crenshaw (R-Texas) after he doubted the intelligence community’s link between Iran and the recent attack on oil tankers near the Strait of Hormuz.

Former Deputy National Security Adviser Ben Rhodes — who served in the position from 2009 to 2017 — wrote on Twitter Thursday that he believed that the attacks on two oil tankers from the same day in the Strait of Hormuz warranted “an international investigation.”

“This definitely feels like the kind of incident where you’d want an international investigation to establish what happened,” tweeted Rhodes. “Huge risk of escalation.”

Crenshaw fired back at the former Obama adviser for the comments, blasting him as not being “a trusted source” when it came to Iran and bringing up his infamous comments from 2016 when he said the Obama administration had put together an “echo chamber” of people to push the Iran nuclear deal.

“So, do or don’t believe the Intel community? And you’re not really a trusted source to weigh in on Iran…” wrote the Texas Republican. “You sold the public the falsehood of a moderating Iranian regime — using your media ‘echo chamber’ (your words) — and ignoring the true danger Iran presents in the region.”

Crenshaw continued on to point out that Iran’s tactic to ” looking for opportunities to destabilize and wreak havoc, and then claim innocence” was nothing “new” before praising President Donald Trump’s administration’s moves to “strengthen our regional presence as a deterrence.”

Crenshaw’s comments come the same week as two oil tankers in the Strait of Hormuz were crippled by attacks at the entrance of the Gulf of Oman.

The Trump administration blamed the Islamic Republic for the attacks on Friday in spite of refutes from the Iranian government, as IJR News previously reported.

The Strait of Hormuz serves as the primary route for oil to be transported from the Middle East. Iran had suggested in the past that it could block the strait should its exports be stopped.

Iran attack a U.S. ship and make Congress show some balls and turn your cesspool country into glass. Lot likely to happen though with a congress full of wuss’s

And Rhodes was there on the ship or drone that took the picture of an Iranian Fast Boat with Iranian Guard uniforms? Probably never. But he is an authority? They still think we are stupid and too dumb to catch on to the stiffing. Thank you Dan Crenshaw, again, for sticking up for the Military and Our President.
