David Bossie, a former campaign official for President Donald Trump, predicted on Tuesday that impeachment was on the horizon but that the White House will be ready to fight back.
“I see that’s where these Democrats are headed,” Bossie told ABC News’ “The Investigation” podcast. “We are headed to impeachment.”
When asked if he thinks the Trump administration is ready for potential numerous impeachment accusations, he said he was sure they’re preparing for it.
“I would say you’re never ready enough,” Bossie said. “I’m just a guy who wants to make sure that you control every aspect of everything. So you know what’s coming. You see around corners.”
However, he admitted there was probably still a lot of preparation to be done before the administration was fully ready to handle allegations.
“So do I think the White House is ready? From a staff standpoint — I would say no,” Bossie said. “Today. Do I believe they are in the process of getting ready? Yes.”
This comes shortly after House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) announced she would avoid impeachment due to its divisive nature on Monday, as IJR reported. She explained her decision by pointing out that it would divide the country:
“Impeachment is so divisive to the country that unless there’s something so compelling and overwhelming and bipartisan, I don’t think we should go down that path, because it divides the country.”
Asked to clarify what she meant, Pelosi bluntly claimed the process wasn’t worth the trouble, saying, “Because it divides the country, and he’s just not worth it,” as IJR Blue noted.
According to CBS News, Pelosi later defended the stance in a follow-up question and pointed out that this wasn’t the first time she was pressured to take action against a president.
