Financial records are adding a new layer to a controversy surrounding former Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem and her husband, raising questions about their finances in the years before a headline-grabbing scandal emerged.

According to the New York Post, a federal financial disclosure filed last year shows the couple carried between $2.6 million and $3.25 million in debt dating back to 2020.

The filing shows most of that debt was tied to loans taken out by her husband, Bryon Noem, primarily for his car wash and insurance businesses.

Five of the six listed loans were in his name alone.

The only shared liability was a mortgage from 2020, valued between $100,001 and $250,000.

The financial details surfaced as reports described Bryon Noem allegedly leading a double life during his wife’s time in government.

According to those reports, he spent significant sums of money interacting with online content creators.

One woman claimed he sent her roughly $25,000 through payment platforms.

Another individual, Nicole Raccagno, said records tied to an account allegedly linked to him showed more than $30,000 in payments beginning in early 2023.

Should Kristi Noem's family finances be further investigated amid the recent allegations?

She also alleged that she received ongoing financial support, including a monthly arrangement and gifts.

A third woman, Lydia Love, said she remembered interacting with him online over an extended period.

“There’s no way I could ever forget the fake boobs,” she said.

She added that he used her services multiple times over a span of roughly 18 months to two years.

The reports described spending that reached tens of thousands of dollars, drawing attention not only for the nature of the activity but also for the scale of the financial outlay.

Kristi Noem said her family was “blindsided” by the revelations.

Her tenure in the Trump administration had already come to an end prior to the scandal becoming public, after she was removed from her role by President Donald Trump.

The financial disclosure, combined with the allegations, has placed renewed scrutiny on both the couple’s finances and the timeline of events leading up to the controversy.
