Ivanka Trump found herself in hot water after it became clear that she used her private email for work-related correspondence.
Trump has been acting as an adviser to her father, President Donald Trump. According to a report from the Washington Post, Trump used her personal email to schedule several work-related appointments.
Her attorney’s spokesman Peter Mirijanian addressed the situation, explaining:
“While transitioning into government, after she was given an official account but until the White House provided her the same guidance they had given others who started before she did, Ms. Trump sometimes used her personal account, almost always for logistics and scheduling concerning her family.
Ms. Trump did not create a private server in her house or office, no classified information was ever included, the account was never transferred at Trump Organization, and no emails were ever deleted.”
Many were quick to draw comparisons to Trump and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, whose infamous emails earned her the presidential nickname “Crooked Hillary.” As IJR Blue reported, some have even dubbed the first daughter “Crooked Ivanka.”
Although Trump did break protocol by using the private email, she did not delete any of the private emails or use the email for confidential correspondence, as many pointed out.
#Ivanka sent hundreds of emails re gov’nt business on her personal server! We’re scandalized! All I can do is repeat what her father said when Hillary did something not unlike what his First Daughter did!! LOCK HER UP! LOCK HER UP!!! LOCK HER UP!! How do you like it now, putz?

Ivanka Trump pleading ignorance to the rules against using personal after her Dad ran an entire campaign attacking Hillary Clinton for doing that exact thing is proof she is either the most entitled or the dumbest person on the planet https://t.co/AIC2175tc6

Did she construct her email account with the obvious purpose of doing business to avoid disclosure? Or set up a private server to that end? https://t.co/6dzJJBV6iZ

WH arguing key differences between @IvankaTrump and Hillary:
Did not use a private email address exclusively
Did not have a private email server
Did not delete emails
Did not send classified information
Also: No BleachBit or hammers used to destroy evidence

Harvard Law Professor Alan Dershowitz explained to Fox News that Trump’s use of a private server is a “non-issue,” but did call out the hypocrisy on both sides.
“I think it’s hypocrisy on parade. Each side uses whatever arguments they can to help and bolster their partisan position. Look, everybody uses private emails. We now have a list of probably a dozen people in public life who have used emails. Apparently, Ivanka Trump used the emails only for scheduling purposes. There were no classified materials. The emails are all preserved. It’s a non-issue. It’s just partisan bickering. We should not be criminalizing the use of private emails, whether by Hillary Clinton or by Ivanka Trump and we should put that issue behind us.”
It is not yet clear whether Trump will face any consequences for using her private email.
