‘It’s a Non-Issue’: Dershowitz Claims Ivanka Trump’s Private Email Scandal Is Just ‘Political Bickering’

Ivanka Trump found herself in hot water after it became clear that she used her private email for work-related correspondence.

Trump has been acting as an adviser to her father, President Donald Trump. According to a report from the Washington Post, Trump used her personal email to schedule several work-related appointments.

Her attorney’s spokesman Peter Mirijanian addressed the situation, explaining:

“While transitioning into government, after she was given an official account but until the White House provided her the same guidance they had given others who started before she did, Ms. Trump sometimes used her personal account, almost always for logistics and scheduling concerning her family.

Ms. Trump did not create a private server in her house or office, no classified information was ever included, the account was never transferred at Trump Organization, and no emails were ever deleted.”

Many were quick to draw comparisons to Trump and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, whose infamous emails earned her the presidential nickname “Crooked Hillary.” As IJR Blue reported, some have even dubbed the first daughter “Crooked Ivanka.”

Although Trump did break protocol by using the private email, she did not delete any of the private emails or use the email for confidential correspondence, as many pointed out.

Harvard Law Professor Alan Dershowitz explained to Fox News that Trump’s use of a private server is a “non-issue,” but did call out the hypocrisy on both sides.

Watch:

“I think it’s hypocrisy on parade. Each side uses whatever arguments they can to help and bolster their partisan position. Look, everybody uses private emails. We now have a list of probably a dozen people in public life who have used emails. Apparently, Ivanka Trump used the emails only for scheduling purposes. There were no classified materials. The emails are all preserved. It’s a non-issue. It’s just partisan bickering. We should not be criminalizing the use of private emails, whether by Hillary Clinton or by Ivanka Trump and we should put that issue behind us.”

It is not yet clear whether Trump will face any consequences for using her private email.

I’m not sure that calling this hypocrisy is appropriate. Unlike Hillary, Ivanka wields no wiping cloth (trying to play ‘dumb’ counters her ‘smart” narrative) AND NO TOP SECRET emails were transmitted. Note also that Ivanka did not use an off-brand server hidden in a bathroom.

Please DO NOT STOP calling President Trump a hypocrite for things like this. The people who consider the facts, and believe hypocrisy therein lies are hopelessly lost. Those of us who compare the two (Clinton and Trump) and laugh won’t change. Those in the middle – we can’t help but… Read more »
