A veteran leader. This is what they do. Personal integrity. A lot of people could learn an important lesson here on what is truly important and it sure isn’t a new gizmo. From one vet to another general thanks for your service and your leadership

As a veteran myself, I agree with you. General Mattis is my hero, so I am not surprised to hear that he was there. This is one of the reasons that he is my hero!

I have nothing to add to this story but admiration for all who have died and all who have lost friends and family.

And that is what GREAT MEN do. Not looking for any pats on the back just doing what comes natural to him. I am so glad to know more about him and am also happy to have him advising the President.

Secretary Mattis is a soldier's soldier and a true leader. God bless him, our troops in all branches, and God Bless America.

And this is what some millionaire babies are taking a knee to protest, publically.  Mattis didn't call a press crew to film him continuing to be a true American.

" 'It's important that we remember everyone, however we knew them,'”

How profound and completely in keeping with Mattis' humility. He's not a "warrior monk". He's a "warrior saint".  Our country is blessed to have leaders like him.

He's in your government America. What a prize you've won. Have to keep that ball rolling though and make sure voting to increase the numbers of these incorruptible characters walking the halls of power in 2020 is a task that isn't taken lightly.

I had the pleasure of working with a number of former military officers, from Admirals and Generals on down. I used to find it funny when the company had senior officers attend basic leadership courses upon hiring and at other times. Watching a consultant or HR professional discuss leadership qualities to men who had been Fleet officers, carrier air group commanders, or wing commanders was at times amusing.
