Democratic National Committee (DNC) Chairman Ken Martin said in an interview published Friday that his role makes him want to pull his own hair out on a daily basis.

Martin told Politico that there is “not a day that I don’t go home wanting to pull my hair out” in his current role. He added that being the head of the DNC is a very “tough job.”

Despite this, Martin emphasized to Politico that he still believes he has the “best job” in the nation.

“Most people think I’ve got the shittiest job in America, but I feel like I’ve got the best job in America,” Martin told the outlet.

Some Democrats have, per reports, previously blasted Martin — who was elected to his position in February — as being “whiny” and “weak.” Additionally, the DNC, which some Democrats have deemed “almost irrelevant,” has reportedly been struggling with internal conflicts and a drop in donations this year under Martin’s watch.

Should Ken Martin continue as DNC Chair despite his reported struggles?

The DNC has been lagging behind Republicans in fundraising this year, according to reports. The organization had just $15 million in cash on hand by the end of June, significantly trailing the Republican National Committee (RNC), which reported having $80 million on hand.

David Hogg, a gun control activist elected as one of the DNC’s vice chairs in February, faced backlash from other Democrats after unveiling plans in April to unseat some incumbent Democratic lawmakers in upcoming primary elections. In June, the DNC voted to remove Hogg from his position.

Further complicating matters, leaked audio from June 8 revealed that Martin had signaled doubts about his own leadership abilities, citing concerns over the internal conflicts in the DNC sparked by Hogg’s efforts to primary some congressional Democrats, Politico first reported.

Martin claimed in August that the U.S. is currently grappling with “an insidious force” which seeks to create “fascism” in the nation.

Certain top Democratic officials are growing increasingly upset with some of their party leaders, including Martin, for not doing enough to back Democratic Socialist Zohran Mamdani’s mayoral campaign in New York City, Axios reported on Oct. 5, citing several anonymous sources.
