‘The Election Is Over!’: Trump Goes on Sunday Morning Tweetstorm

The weekend just wouldn’t be complete unless we had an early morning tweetstorm from President Donald Trump. And if you thought that maybe the Easter holiday would deter the commander in chief, well, you thought wrong.

8:18 a.m. eastern, which is rather late given some of his Twitter habits, saw the president’s first tweet. The subject: China, and his lack of labeling them as a currency manipulator.

Six minutes later at 8:24 a.m. — and possibly after realizing that it was a holiday — POTUS tweeted a Happy Easter to all his followers.

From there, at 9:07 a.m., Trump dove into a subject near and dear to his heart: His electoral college win. In an odd move, though, he somehow correlated the electoral college and the American people’s wanting his tax returns to be released:

Piggybacking off the tax return comment, President Trump turned his fingers towards Saturday’s Tax Marches, in which thousands marched through Manhattan and other U.S. cities demanding Trump release his tax returns.

Trump asked who funded the “small organized rallies,” before pointing out that “the election is over.” It should be pointed out that Trump recently held a rally of his own in Nashville, Tennessee.

The final tweet of the morning came in at 9:41 a.m. and dealt with the military.

Taking a more stream of consciousness approach to this last tweet, Trump doesn’t bother to tell his followers what exactly the military is building, just that it’s building and becoming stronger. “Frankly, we have no choice!” has little context, but is presumably in reference to the ever-escalating conflict with North Korea.
