Daily Caller News Foundation

The Americans for Prosperity-Wisconsin (AFP-WI) announced a new round of ads in support of former Republican Wisconsin Attorney General Brad Schimel’s campaign to serve on the state’s Supreme Court Wednesday morning.

The ads emphasize Schimel’s commitment to public safety and his promise to protect Wisconsin residents’ constitutional rights while casting his left-wing opponent, Susan Crawford, as engaging in partisan politics, according to information exclusively shared with the Daily Caller News Foundation. The Wisconsin State Supreme Court election is one of the most watched races of 2025, and the winner will be given a ten-year term to weigh in on the future of redistricting as well as cultural issues, such as pro-life policies, in the critical swing state.

Though state supreme court elections are officially nonpartisan in Wisconsin, the political left is seen as holding a narrow 4-3 majority after liberal judge Janet Protasiewicz won a seat on the bench in 2023. With left-wing Wisconsin Supreme Court Justice Ann Walsh Bradley’s retirement, conservatives will have an opportunity to retake control of the state’s highest judicial body in the April 1 election.

Schimel has been endorsed by the state Republican Party while Crawford has the support of Wisconsin Democrats.

AFP-WI is investing heavily in the contest to aid Schimel’s campaign.

“AFP-WI’s grassroots army has connected with over 225,000 voters, starting before Thanksgiving, and their message is clear — Wisconsinites want a candidate who will protect the rule of law and preserve our constitutional freedoms,” AFP-WI State Director Megan Novak told the DCNF. “Voters know Susan Crawford is too radical for our state and our families. Brad Schimel is the only candidate we can trust to put partisan politics aside and restore balance and integrity to our state’s highest court.”

“The stakes are high and AFP-WI’s grassroots army is locked in to elect Brad Schimel on April 1st,” Novak added.

AFP-WI endorsed Schimel in November. The two ads are a part of a $1 million ad buy the group announced in December.

Novak has argued the Wisconsin State Supreme Court race has high stakes and has directly tied the election outcome to the fate of President Donald Trump’s agenda.

“What’s really at stake, and the opponent in this race Susan Crawford who’s a progressive leftist… is fundraising — that they are looking at putting two congressional seats in play for 2026 for Democrats to take back the majority through the Wisconsin Supreme Court,” Novak told Fox News’ Guy Benson on Feb. 17. “They [Democrats] want to gerrymander those two seats in Wisconsin to put the majority at play so they can stop the Trump agenda and everything that Trump is doing at the national level through a Wisconsin Supreme Court race that [they think] not many people are paying attention to.”

The Wisconsin State Supreme Court race has attracted millions in outside spending and could become the most expensive judicial election in U.S. history. Those backing Schimel’s campaign include the House Freedom Caucus-aligned House Freedom Action, the Republican State Leadership Committee, the Elon Musk-backed America PAC and Musk-aligned Building America’s Future and the conservative-leaning Fair Courts America.

Democratic Party megadonor George Soros, Democratic Illinois Governor JB Pritzker and venture capitalist Reid Hoffman have reportedly contributed to Crawford’s campaign.
