FBI Director James Comey Sure Has Changed a Lot Since He Prosecuted Martha Stewart…

This morning, FBI Director James Comey made an announcement concerning Hillary Clinton and whether or not, after a lengthy investigation, he would recommend that the Department of Justice prosecute the former Secretary of State.

But despite finding that 110 emails contained classified information, 8 contained top secret information, and nearly 2,000 additional were emails classified later, Comey’s final assessment was to recommend against an indictment:

“Our judgment is that no reasonable prosecutor would bring such a case.”

But as some noted on social media, FBI Director James Comey is definitely not U.S. Attorney James Comey – who opted to prosecute Martha Stewart in 2003:

At the time, Comey explained his reasoning for prosecuting the domestic diva:

“If it was Jane Doe she would have been prosecuted. [T]here were 2,000 cases by the Justice Department that year for providing false statements during an investigation.

I thought of my hesitation about the case due to someone being rich and famous, and how it shouldn’t be that way. I decided we had to do it.”

Today, some people feel that the fact that Hillary is a Clinton absolutely factored into the “other” Comey’s decision to not ask for an indictment:

Clinton is continuing her campaign for the presidency, with current President Barack Obama at her side.

Martha Stewart spent 5 months in prison…after being jailed for lying to investigators.
