Congressman Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) revealed that the FBI has a partnership with the Southern Poverty Law Center (SLPC) — a group that routinely targets conservative groups as “hate groups,” but ignores the hateful acts of Antifa groups.
According to Fox News, Gaetz called the partnership “surprising and worrisome” because of the SPLC’s disparaging posts about conservative and religious groups.
Gaetz pointed to the ridiculous fact that the Christian Family Research Council (FRC) is included in SPLC’s list of hate groups, but no Antifa groups are included. He sees this as not only biased, but also dangerous.
SPLC Targets Mainstream Conservatives
The FRC is not the only questionable group to be listed on an SPLC list. The SPLC’s Hate Watch reports include Ben Shapiro, Dennis Prager, Candace Owens, Jordan Peterson, and student group Turning Point USA. Most of these individuals were placed on the list because of misdrawn connections to the alt-right or disagreements with the SPLC on social issues.
Not only are mainstream conservatives targeted for their own beliefs, but the SPLC also targets them as hateful for talking to other people the SPLC has listed as hateful.
They included “Rubin Report” host Dave Rubin in a Hate Watch report because he interviewed Paul Joseph Watson of Infowars.
Some conservatives joined Gaetz in his concern about the partnership.

Gaetz told Fox News, “The SPLC’s conflation of mainstream political advocacy groups with legitimate hate groups and domestic terror groups is absurd, frequently indiscriminate and dangerous.”
