Fetterman Blasts Own Party: ‘Pick Israel’

WASHINGTON, DC - MARCH 19: Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee member Sen. John Fetterman (D-WV) prepares to vote to advance Sen. Markwayne Mullin (R-OK) to be Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security during a markup hearing in the Dirksen Senate Office Building on Capitol Hill on March 19, 2026 in Washington, DC. Committee Chairman Rand Paul (R-KY) has announced that he does not support President Donald Trump's nomination of Mullin and voted against him. (Photo by Chip Somodevilla/Getty Images)

Sen. John Fetterman has a two-word message for his fellow party members — “pick Israel.”

The Pennsylvania Democrat relayed that message Thursday night on “Jesse Watters Primetime.”

Fetterman urged Democrats to support President Donald Trump’s Operation Epic Fury against Iran.

“I think more Democrats should listen to me and be on the right side of history in holding Iran accountable,” Fetterman said. “And if you have to pick a side, pick our side. Pick civilization, pick Israel.”

He then spoke about a recent Pew poll which shows 80% of Democrats have a somewhat or very negative view of Israel.

Should Democrats support Israel in the current conflict with Iran?

Support: 83% (10 Votes)
Oppose: 17% (2 Votes)

That poll also shows 60% of Americans overall have a somewhat or very negative view of Israel, up 18 points since 2022.

“Pew pointed out 80% of Democrats view Israel negative[ly]. That’s insane. You know, that’s our special ally. That’s the only place in the region that has the kind of values and the kinds of way that we live and what we want here as a Democrat,” Fetterman said. “How is that possible that eight out of 10 view Israel in a negative thing as Democrats, you know.”

“And I know it’s even more unpopular about standing and agreeing about Epic Fury. But I will be the only Democrat, you know, in my caucus that is proud to stand with Israel and I also think Epic Fury was necessary,” he added.

The senator has been an advocate for Israel since the Oct. 7, 2023, attacks.

While U.S. public support for Israel initially rose, it fell amid Israel’s invasion of Gaza.
