Fetterman’s Chief of Staff Resigns As Staffing Problem Continues

BOSTON, MASSACHUSETTS - JUNE 2: U.S. Senator John Fetterman during the sixth installment of The Senate Project moderated by FOX NEWS anchor Shannon Bream at the Edward M. Kennedy Institute for the United States Senate on June 2, 2025 in Boston, Massachusetts. Sen. John Fetterman’s chief of staff resigned Wednesday, as the senator struggles with staff retention.

A source told Axios issues include scrutiny over his health struggles and changing political brand.

Cabelle St. John has been on Fetterman’s team since he was first elected about three-and-a-half years ago. She became his chief of staff in 2025.

Her official last day has not been replaced.

According to the report on Axios, Fetterman was once a darling of the progressive movement. However, he has had a major turnover of aides.

These aides have reportedly grown frustrated with his steadfast support for Israel and friendly relationship with President Dinald Trump.

Should Senator Fetterman address his staffing issues more seriously?

Former staff have complained about working with him on an interpersonal level.

He downplayed this staff turnover in a text to Axios.

“So much for the turnover issue. Clicks!” he wrote, posting an image that showed other offices with purportedly higher turnover.

Following a staff exodus in 2025, one former staffer called Fetterman a “useful idiot for Republicans” on their way out.

On a podcast last week, Fetterman said Democrats were “becoming more increasingly anti-American for me.”

Earlier this month, Trump promised Fetterman “my complete and total endorsement” if he became a Republican.
