A 23-year-old Florida man has been convicted of murdering his pregnant teenage girlfriend and her unborn child after she refused to get an abortion — and now faces the death penalty.

According to the New York Post, Donovan Faison was found guilty last week of killing 18-year-old Kaylin Fiengo, who was discovered shot to death in her car beside an ultrasound image in November 2022. The murder came shortly after Fiengo sent Faison photos of two positive pregnancy tests — to which he replied, “Abortion!!!”

According to the Sanford Police Department, Faison “erupted” and felt “angry and pressured” because he was living with another woman who suspected he was cheating at the time.

In one message to a friend, Faison wrote, “On my brothers [sic] grave, I’m gonna crop her out,” referring to Fiengo, who was already the mother of a toddler, Ace.

Soon after sending that message, Faison lured Fiengo to meet him at Coastline Park in Sanford, just north of Orlando. That night, she was found slumped in the driver’s seat of her running car. Near her body, investigators found a bullet casing and an ultrasound image, police said.

Should the death penalty be applied in this case of murder involving a pregnant victim?

“This was an execution-style killing,” prosecutor Stewart Stone told jurors, urging them to consider “the cold, calculated, premeditated nature of this killing.”

Jurors voted 11–1 to recommend the death penalty, KALB reported.

At the time of her murder, Fiengo was nearing the end of her first trimester. Authorities have not confirmed whether Faison was the father of the unborn child.

Prosecutor Domenick Leo told jurors the text messages provided “clear, convincing evidence” of Faison’s guilt.

“He said he was going to do it, then he did it,” Leo said. “The police got the right guy.”
