4 Beautiful Parts of the Memorial for Chris Kyle Are Going to Come Straight From Dubya’s Ranch

The Texas memorial for Chris Kyle is shaping up nicely.

The memorial for the slain Navy SEAL is being built in Odessa, Texas and will feature a 15-feet-tall bronze statue of the sniper on a 48,000-pound limestone base.

It will also feature 4 beautiful gifts, purchased from the Crawford ranch of former President George W. Bush:

4 majestic oak trees, each heavier than 8,000 pounds.

Once they are done growing, the trees will create a shaded area where visitors can ponder Chris Kyle’s legacy.

Kelly Cook, one of the architects, spoke to Odessa American about the deeper intentions behind the memorial:

“There’s a lot of hidden symbolism behind the other elements that are going to be in the plaza,” Cook said.

Cook noted that this hidden symbolism will be especially important to those that have served in Special Forces:

“We wanted the 2 percent to come out here and it have great, great, great meaning to those people.”

Taya Kyle, Chris Kyle’s widow, has described her visit to the build site as “emotional and moving.”

The Chris Kyle Memorial Plaza is expected to open sometime in July 2016.
