Fox News is reporting that the Manhattan and New Jersey bombings may be related:

“Police believe the two devices that were detonated in New Jersey and New York were made by the same person, a law enforcement source told Fox News on Sunday.”

Officials investigating the incidents have yet to go on record with that information.

Saturday, at approximately 9:30 a.m., an explosive device detonated inside a trash can at New Jersey’s Seaside Park.

The explosive, which was planted along the route of the Semper Five charity 5K, could have killed or badly injured the runners, but because the race was delayed for multiple reasons, no one was nearby when the device went off.

Eleven hours later at 8:30 p.m., a bomb detonated in the Chelsea neighborhood of Manhattan. Shortly thereafter, another device was found several blocks away.

29 people were injured in the explosion, all of whom were released from the hospital Sunday morning.

No suspects have been apprehended, and no motive has been ascribed. However, new information reported by The New York Post points toward potential Islamic extremism.
