Wallace Grills Gillibrand Over Policy Flip-Flops After Her Attempted Dig at Trump: ‘How Is That Brave?’

Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-N.Y.) was put in the hot seat about why her opinions on certain policy issues have flipped after taking a shot at President Donald Trump during a town hall hosted by Fox News on Sunday.

While touching on last week’s tragic shooting in Virginia Beach, the 2020 Democratic presidential candidate falsely claimed that President Donald Trump did not ban bump stocks.

“Remember, after the shooting in Las Vegas [Trump] said, ‘we’re going to ban the bump stocks.’ Did he ban the bump stocks? No! Because the NRA came crashing down,” said Gillibrand.

Watch her claim below:

Wallace was quick to put her on the spot afterwards about her own change in stance when it comes to guns and the Second Amendment.

“Your campaign slogan is ‘Brave Wins,’ but when you [represented] a conservative district…you took pretty conservative positions on guns…once you became the Senator for the entire liberal state of NY, you flipped. How is that brave?” asked host Chris Wallace.

Gillibrand struggled to explain that her opinion changed due to her speaking with more people that were affected by gang violence.

“I came from a district that was really rural. Second Amendment was important, hunting was important,” said Gillibrand. “So I understand the importance of having a hunting culture and preserving our Second Amendment rights.”

Watch the moment below:

She went on to give examples of urban families who have been impacted by gun violence and claimed that the NRA was to blame. However, Wallace continued to push back, saying it sounded like she was changing her opinion to win votes.

“It sounds a lot more like it’s politics than principles… how do you explain the change?” asked Wallace.

Watch her feel the pressure:

Instead of answering the question directly, the presidential candidate claimed her change in policy was based on the Golden Rule.

“We have to look beyond our own backyard, we must care about others,” said Gillibrand. “This country used to believe in the Golden Rule: Treat others the way you want to be treated, care about the least among us.”

As IJR Red reported, Gillibrand has also flipped on immigration as well, previously holding very strong views against illegal immigration and now called for the abolition of ICE.

Blatant case of say whatever you need to to get elected… Then vote like a socialist who wants to rule the world and destroy the country.

No different than taking Clinton money and then saying Bill should have resigned over the Lewinsky matter. She’s just not very consistent or smart

Typical dem representing a mostly conservative district; say whatever it takes to get elected and then move forward with your left-wing boiler plate agenda. She should be representing
the people of her district’s views. Period, whether she likes it or not. She won’t be re-elected…
