Gingrich Is as Concerned About the Actions Taken by the Obama Admin in 2016 as He Was About the Russians

Former Speaker Newt Gingrich (R-Ga.) claimed that he was more concerned about interference by the Obama administration in the 2016 elections than he was about Russian meddling.

While former Special Counsel Robert Mueller may have concluded his investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election, neither party seems content with the current situation.

Some Democrats are planning to push toward impeachment, despite Mueller’s mediocre testimony. Some Republicans want to know more about the origins of the investigation into President Donald Trump’s campaign.

Gingrich is among the discontented Republicans hoping to learn more about how the intelligence community was granted access to the Trump campaign.

During an interview on Fox Business Network, Gingrich claimed that he was “as worried” about election interference by the Obama administration as he was about Russian interference.

Watch Gingrich’s remarks:

“I reached the conclusion, after all of this noise, that there was an effort by a government to affect the election of 2016. Unfortunately, that government was the American government under Barack Obama and it was the FBI and the Justice Department and some other key people in the Obama administration who were trying to affect the election in a way that clearly violates everything we’ve known about how to elect a president. So, I came away from all this at least as worried about what the Americans had done illegally and inappropriately to change the election as I am about what the Russians may or may not have done.”

Gingrich also echoed the concerns by some that Mueller didn’t have a leading role in the investigation, as he appeared to be unaware of some of the details provided. The former speaker expressed concern that the team of investigators was biased against Trump.

“If [the investigation into the origins of the Russia probe] comes out with the kind of information I think it will, then I think the chairman, Lindsey Graham, of the Senate Judiciary Committee will have an opportunity to establish an investigation. Look, for example, why was it if you were for Clinton you could lie and nothing was done to you. If you were for Trump, you could end up in solitary confinement for months. You go back and you look at exactly the same kind of patterns, it is such an overwhelmingly anti-Trump, protect-Clinton process that I have to assume that it was the left-wing lawyers. Some of whom, by the way, had worked for Hillary Clinton. Some had actually been at an election night party for her. It’s not exactly like this was in any way a neutral effort.”

While Mueller’s report came up empty-handed as far as conspiracy charges against President Trump go, he did find substantial evidence that Russia interfered in the 2016 elections.

There are 140 instances of Trump campaign contacts with Russians outlined in the Mueller Report. The Mueller team of “ant-Trump protect Clinton” “left wing lawyers” did not perceive they could prove the Trump campaign staff was informed enough to know they were breaking the law. “Empty-handed” is a fantasy.

It is not discernible from the article that Newt is actually concerned about Russian interference.—It’s Newt, so he is concerned about Obama and Clinton, but WHAT is his concern regarding Russian interference? Is he calling on McConnell to put forth the bills to address foreign interference?

James, I adore you, BUT “The Restless Wave” indicates in Sen McCain’s telling that he was approached and received the Steele dossier in Halifax Nova Scotia AFTER the election. He was approached by Sir Andrew Wood. He turned it over to Jim Comey, then FBI director on December 9, 2016. Director Comey indicated in under oath testimony that the FBI was already in possession of the document. There were news outlets that had the document. THE document expressed SERIOUS CONCERNS of NATIONAL INTEREST that Trump COULD BE controlled!—Controlled by FOREIGN ADVERSARIES! WHY & HOW would the FBI benefit from discrediting… Read more »

>Phyllis Softa< Apparently you've missed some news. You're not aware an aide to Sen. McCain ("McStain") went to London to pick up the dossier and fly back to D.C. where it was given to the FBI. It's been reported the FBI actually paid for the dossier; however, we now know it was paid for by Marxist Barry ($972,000) and Queen Hillary ($116,000). The FBI kept it under wraps because it would later be used by some of their rogue employees in an attempt to discredit the businessman who had no political experience and could not be controlled named Donald J.… Read more »

Gingrich needs to explain how the FBI was investigating the Trump administration’s 140 contacts with Russians, Trump publicly and privately asking the Russians to hack Clinton’s server, the campaign manager handing over campaign polling data BUT the public never heard of the investigation until AFTER the election. The FBI & CIA knew of the Steele dossier BEFORE the election, but the voters were in the dark until AFTER the election. But Gingrich claims the government was in the tank for Hillary. History will ask for the logic behind his assertions, so he should get it on the record now. As… Read more »

BINGO! Gingrich has nailed it and Barry’s corrupt, dysfunctional mobsters. No one has yet explained WHY Barry contributed $972,000 for dirt on Trump. Nor WHY Hillary contributed $116,000 for dirt on Trump. How much did Steele make as a salary for dirt on Trump by the FBI? #44’s Administration was known for sticking its’ nose in other Country’s elections. Gingrich has only proven Barry did not discriminate when it came to sticking his nose in to fix the outcome of an election – – – right here in the good ole USA. Wonder if he’ll claim that $972,000 as a… Read more »
