‘I’m Extremely Worried’: GOP Senator Raises New Illegal Immigration Concerns After Border Visit

After a recent visit to the U.S.-Mexico border, Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee Chairman Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) spoke out about what he believed to be the start of a record-setting number of illegal border crossings for the summer months.

Johnson traveled to the El Paso border to take a tour of the processing centers and facilities that immigrants are detained in. However, during his trip, Johnson said that he observed issues with immigration and the way that it was being handled.

“This is completely out of control,” said Johnson.

According to the Washington Examiner, the senator said that there have been increased numbers of immigrants from countries such as Venezuela and Cuba. Johnson pointed out that he saw almost 100 people caught over the course of two hours at one border crossing.

“I’m extremely worried,” said Johnson. “That’s exponential growth and it’s only going to continue to grow exponentially.”

He also warned that there was an increased number of diseases that were being found, causing immigrants to be quarantined.

“There is a pretty long list of communicable diseases that they’ve encountered,” said the senator. While Border Patrol has provided “holding cells” for those with mumps, lice, chicken pox, scabies, and “drug-resistant strains of tuberculosis.”

However, Johnson suggested that there needs to be extensive reform of the border laws, claiming that those who face “credible fear” from their home countries should be allowed to stay in the U.S., but those that pay their way should be sent back to their home country.

“You start sending people back who paid $6,000, $8,000, $10,000 to come here … and you would see a rapid decline,” he said.

As IJR Red previously reported, many immigration officials have spoken out about the need for immigration law reform and more resources to protect both Border Patrol agents and immigrants safety. Johnson may begin working toward a solution based on his position on the Senate committee and the interest he has expressed in reform.

Beginning solution to the immigration (ILLEGAL ALIEN INVADERS) problem would be to send ALL back across the border; then CLOSE the border. An alternative would to immediately load all the sick, diseased and criminal Illegal Alien Invaders in tractor trailers and send them to the sanctuary cities that want them so badly.
