Two GOP Senators who have been vocal critics of President Donald Trump are on their way out of the Senate, and it’s time to say goodbye.
Retiring Senators Jeff Flake (R-Ariz.) and Bob Corker (R-Tenn.) are known critics of President Trump and are wrapping up their careers in the Senate.
Sen. Jeff Flake’s swipes at Trump
There was no shortage of remarks by Flake during his time in the Senate as he was critical of President Trump.
During Flake’s ongoing feud with the president, the senator used late Sen. John McCain’s (R-Ariz.) memorial service to take a swipe at President Trump by saying “Decency Wins,” including an image of former presidents at McCain’s funeral. President Trump wasn’t invited to the memorial service, so he was missing from the photo.
In his farewell speech, Flake took a last swipe at the president, as IJR Red previously reported.
“To say that our politics is not healthy is something of an understatement,” Flake said. “I believe that we all know well that this is not a normal time, that the threats to our democracy from within and without are real, and none of us can say with confidence how the situation that we now find ourselves in will turn out.”
The senator then stated there is “political dysfunction and upheaval,” while calling Trump’s presidency “authoritarianism.”
How could Jeff Flake, who is setting record low polling numbers in Arizona and was therefore humiliatingly forced out of his own Senate seat without even a fight (and who doesn’t have a clue), think about running for office, even a lower one, again? Let’s face it, he’s a Flake!

After his dramatic final speech, the outgoing senator said on CNN that “somebody” needs to challenge President Trump in the 2020 presidential election to remind the country of “what it means to be conservative — certainly on the Republican side — and what it means to be decent as well because we need a lot more of that in our politics,” as IJR Red reported.
Sen. Bob Corker’s ongoing feud with Trump
Corker ruffled feathers when he previously labeled the Trump administration an “adult day care center”:
It's a shame the White House has become an adult day care center. Someone obviously missed their shift this morning.

The retiring senator, nicknamed “[little]’ Bob Corker” by President Trump, has had an ongoing feud with the president and lashed out at him on Twitter just days ago:
Senator Bob Corker just stated that, “I’m so priveledged to serve in the Senate for twelve years, and that’s what I told the people of our state that’s what I’d do, serve for two terms.” But that is Not True – wanted to run but poll numbers TANKED when I wouldn’t endorse him…..

Corker responded to President Trump’s remark:

As IJR Blue reported, after praising some of President Trump’s policies, Corker took one last swipe at President Trump during a recent CBS interview saying, “Where the president hurts himself and hurts our country, is his own personal conduct.”
Both of the two senators’ departures leave people unknowing if someone will replace their place of publicly criticizing President Trump within the Republican party.
