A Republican congressman from Florida went after the Democrats for choosing to focus on investigating President Donald Trump instead of legislating to address the problems facing our nation.
During an interview with Fox News on Wednesday, Rep. Greg Steube (R-Fla.) — who serves on the House Judiciary and Oversight committees — was asked if there would be any “real action” taken by the House to address other issues facing the nation, such as the crisis at the southern border.
Steube responded with a resounding “no,” stating that the Democrat-controlled committees in the House are more “focused on investigating the president” rather than legislating:
“No, because every committee — at least every committee that I sit on, Judiciary and Oversight — is focused on investigating the president. Ways and Means has subpoenaed the president’s tax returns and [is] now talking about taking that further. [House Judiciary Committee Chairman] Jerry Nadler subpoenaed 81 different individuals to come and get documents and information as it relates to this investigation.”

“Again, I don’t think the Democrats can get over the fact that they lost in 2016, Donald Trump is president,” Steube continued. “And they can’t beat him in the ballot box in 2020.”
The Florida Republican then stated that he believes that the “only thing” that Democrats are able to do right now is “further these investigations and move towards impeachment.”
“But I think Americans want to move on,” Steube added.
As IJR Red previously reported, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) both released statements after Mueller’s conference advocating for a more investigative approach to the president, while several prominent members of their party took to the Twittersphere to demand impeachment proceedings.
