Hillary Clinton Says We’re in a ‘Full-Fledged Crisis’ Despite Opportunities for Americans Increasing

Former presidential candidate Hillary Clinton compared the current political atmosphere to the civil rights movement.

Clinton was speaking at an event on Sunday to commemorate the 54th anniversary of “Bloody Sunday” in Selma, Alabama. In her speech, the former Secretary of State claimed that citizens’ rights were under attack.

“This is a time, my friends, when fundamental rights, civic virtue, freedom of the press, the rule of law, truth, facts and reason are under assault,” said Clinton, according to CNN.

Clinton did not clarify what she meant by her statement, rather going even further to say there was a “crisis.”

“And make no mistake, we are living through a full-fledged crisis in our democracy,” Clinton said.

As IJR has reported, opportunities for Americans are at all an all-time high. There are more minority business owners than ever before, a record number of women in Congress, and lower tax rates.

However, Clinton seemed to call for another civil rights movement based on voting rights:

“To anyone who has ever wondered what you would have done during those defining moments that we read about in history books — whether you would have risked arrest to demand votes for women or bled on the Edmund Pettus Bridge to demand voting rights for all — the answer is what you are doing now could be as important as anything that anyone has done before.”

While Clinton did not call out President Donald Trump by name, she spoke about “rights” that were being stripped back:

“When racist and white supremacist views are lifted up in the media and the White House, when hard-fought-for civil rights are being stripped back, when the single most important fight of our time, which makes it possible to fight every other fight and must be, as Frederick Douglass would say, our North Star — the fight to protect our vote — is not gathering the momentum and the energy and the passion it deserves, we have a lot of work to do, don’t we?”

The former Secretary of State may think America is in the middle of a “full-fledged crisis,” but the lives of Americans across the country are improving as jobs return to our country and unemployment hits new lows.

So, Bolton, how is your phony media “war” going in Venezuela?

The Spanish-American war – started in the media.

The Gulf of Tonkin incident – never happened. Robert McNimara admitted so in 2003, but the corrupted, complicit media kept the lies going at the time.

The media stage was set on a bridge that had never been used (We are trying to help the people. They are so cruel! Boo hoo.). How did that go, warmonger Bolton?
