While speaking at The Wing women’s club in New York City on Tuesday night, former presidential candidate Hillary Clinton voiced her support for the Parkland survivors-turned-activists, saying they can actually be the ones who can finally beat the National Rifle Association.
“It is very exciting to see the movement started by the students from Parkland about taking on the NRA and the gun lobby,” Clinton said. “You know, I’ve taken on the NRA for years, and they spent more money against me than they spent against anybody.”

“So when the NRA was running $30 million of ads against me, all they basically said, ‘She’s for the assault weapons ban, she’s for universal backgrounds checks, she’s going to come get your guns.’ Totally ridiculous, but that was their argument,” she continued.Noam Galai/WireImage
Clinton praised the activists for being willing to take on the NRA and host events like the March for Our Lives.
“So what we’ve got to do is to say we are for the assault weapons ban, we are for universal background checks, we are going to hold elected officials accountable, and we are going to vote against those who will not agree with those particular policies. And I think we’ve got a real shot to defeat the NRA again,” she concluded.
